New Year’s Eve wouldn’t be the same without champagne, but that doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself to just one drink choice.
Champagne-based cocktails are a great way to add variety and flavor to any party that your taste buds will love as much as your friends will.
So grab a bottle of bubbly and head for the juice aisle – these mixed drinks are sure to make a splash (in your mouth, that is).
Meta-mosa – A mimosa doesn’t have to be just orange juice and champagne. For a tasty tropical twist on the classic drink, mix one can (or 1 ½ cups) of your favorite juice blend, one can of pineapple juice, one can of thawed concentrated orange juice and ¾ cup cold water in a serving bowl
Add fresh fruit and champagne just before serving and — to go above and beyond the solo cup style — put flute glasses around the bowl for your guests to use.
Citrus Martini Spritzer – A zesty take on the martini, this sweet-and-sour cocktail is fun and delicious.
In a shaker filled with ice, mix two parts lemon-flavored vodka, one part sweet and sour mix and the juices from half a lemon and lime. If you don’t have a shaker, two different-sized glasses fitted together at the mouths can also be used to chill the drink by shaking the mix and ice together.
Pour into a martini glass and top with champagne.
To decorate your glass, cover a small plate with a layer of yellow crystal sprinkles (sugar can also be used) and wet the rim with lime juice. Dip the moistened rim in the sprinkles and garnish with a lemon zest twist.
Winter Cocktail – This appropriately-colored seasonal cocktail is as fun to look at as it is to drink.
Mix three parts (1 ½ ounces for a single drink) orange-flavored vodka with one part blue curacao and two parts champagne.
Stir lightly and serve in a wine glass garnished with a cherry. Blue maraschino cherries look great with this drink but may be hard to find, though red ones work just as well.
